Argentina is a country in South America, south of Brazil with a coastline, facing east, onto the Atlantic Ocean.

Physical geography

The Rio de la Plata is a large estuary at the northeastern end of the country. At the southern end of Argentina are some islands, among them Tierra del Fuego and the Falkland Islands, which are currently under British control.

Political geography

The capital city, Buenos Aires, faces onto the Rio de la Plata. The Andes mark the border between Argentina and Chile, the country to the west of Argentina. Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay are all to the north of Argentina.
